Long experience with decision-makers; a wide network; a record of results

A former senatorial staffer and House-member legislative director, Mark Rokala has been helping clients and legislators develop strategies and get results in Washington, D.C. for more than 20 years—after prior state-government lobbying. Drawing on his experience and his extensive network, he has earned a reputation for problem solving—under tight deadlines and lean budgets. His record of successful pursuit of clients’ interests with legislators, regulatory agencies, and other governmental organizations speaks for itself.

His work on behalf of agriculture clients and renewable-energy clients alone is representative. As a lead member of a lobbying team, he was instrumental in developing and implementing strategies related to the major federal agriculture legislation of 2014, 2008, 2002, and 1996. As a lead member of a renewable-energy team he helped a client win more than $100 million of funding from the Department of Energy, and for another client, helped assure DOE appropriations for the industry. His experience extends to international issues, as well. He has led an effort to reverse a ban on imports from Korea, as well as a team securing humanitarian aid for refugees in Syria.

In addition to lobbying, Rokala counts situation analysis, strategy development, negotiating, management consulting, writing, and editing among his particular strengths for clients. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota, where he serves on an alumni board. His résumé includes additional training at Harvard, as well as in Netherlands and Finland.
